Sunday Motivation: Darkness and Light

I hope you are all doing well today! The quote for today is one that could be hard for some. It may not make sense for many reasons. But for me it makes perfect sense. I’ll tell you why in a second. First, here is our Sunday Motivation quote:

 

For someone who is dealing with depression (or any other metal illness where you may feel darkness) darkness is a very accurate description. Your world just feels dark. And alone. And dull. And numb. When you are in the moment of those feelings it is HARD to feel like there will ever be anything besides dark, alone, and gloomy days.

You may be sitting in the sunlight or a brightly lit room. You may be surrounded by family, friends, or strangers. It may be the middle of summer on a perfectly pleasant day. But you will still feel the darkness and loneliness. It is not your fault or the fault of those around you. They may both contribute or have been a trigger.

Then one day or moment the darkness seems to fade away and you are left with the light. You may feel overwhelmed with happiness and joy. You may succumb to tears of relief. After you have been in darkness then you will be able to really and truly appreciate the light. And that is a beautiful thing!

When you are in the mist of the darkness I know it is hard and unbearable. I want to you to remember what it feels like to be out of the darkness and into the light. I want you to remember that the light will return. Have faith in yourself and trust that the light will return. There are people around you who are cheering you on. Let them help you.
