It has been MONTHS since we have been in school. It still seems so weird that it is time to get back to school. And I’m sure many kids are already back to school. This post is a back to school special, because let’s face it 2020 is a special kind of year.

While this post is geared mostly to the kids who are going back to school in person, I’m sure you can find something helpful for all school kiddos. I’m working on a post for kids who are staying home and either doing homeschool or online learning. Look for that back to school special soon.

I have always planned to have more educational post on my blog, just haven’t gotten around to it at this point. But as the world is different this year and school is looking different I am excited to have in plan more educational posts.

I taught first grade for 9 years! I now get to stay home with my kiddos. As I’m writing and you’re reading my educational posts I want you to remember I do know what I’m talking about (most of the time… ;)).

Here’s a post that goes into more detail about my education background. I hope it will help you understand and gain confidence in the things I will be writing.

There are so many emotions that we can feel when it is time for our children to go back to school. This year there are MORE. Here, I talked about some of the emotions I felt when my son started first grade.

Can you relate to any of them? What are ones you’re feeling this year?

There are also some morning routine tidbits to help you have a smoother morning. In this post I go into more detail about getting ready for back to school.

One thing that can make your mornings tricky and stressful is packing lunches for school. Here I go into detail on how we made our lunch making a breeze and super easy.

    1. Thank you!! We are taking it a grading period at a time and keeping them home at first. I feel blessed to be able to and have an education background. Good luck with whatever you decide. 🥰

  1. Setting up a lunch station is a great idea….If we had more space in our house this is something that I would do.

  2. This is a great list of questions to ask children…I may need to ask my nephews these but something tells me they have felt safe throughout this whole time! Kids will be kids.

  3. What a great collection of resources! The questions to ask about your school day are a reat one in iccular – sometimes ipt takes different ways of asking things to get kids to tell you much of anything LOL!

  4. Great to know you’ve made these resources available. I don’t have a school-aged child or grandchild right now, but if I did, I’m sure I’d be homeschooling.

  5. We are going back to school-I don’t know about this but here we go. Thank you for the great resources.

  6. I love these ideas! I’m reading The Power of Moments and am trying to make transition more impactful moments as it’s not natural to me. Thanks for sharing!

  7. I was just looking at class lists earlier today since we go back in a few weeks. As a district, we gave our families the choice of attending school 100% virtually or in a hybrid model (2 days in person, 3 days virtual). This will be a different year, for sure!

    1. Oh I loved looking at my class list and seeing if I knew any of the kiddos. Do they have teachers doing both? Or teaching the 100% and other teaching the hybrid? Good luck!!

  8. I like your printables set. I think they are very helpful. Going back to school must be very stressful for all parents. My toddler should be starting nursery soon but not sure how things will go, hoping for the best.
