Either way, I’m here to give you 5 simple and fun Valentine’s Day ideas that will be fun, easy, and just may be your new tradition.

Sugar Cookies to Make, Decorate, and Eat

Baking with children can be fun and hard. Haha! You’ll be teaching them great skills, and building fun memories with them.

Making sugar cookies is no expection. All you need is:

  • Valentine’s Day themed cookie cutters
  • Frosting
  • Ingrediants for cookies
  • Things to decorate the cookies

I’m pretty sure you have everything you need at home. Making sugar cookies can take time. You can break it up in a couple settings or bust it out all at once.

Once your cookies are made, baked, and decorated you can enjoy your cookies with your family. Or put a few on a paper plate and drop off at a neighbor’s house. Share your love with baking. 🙂

Valentine’s Day Books are a Must

Curl up with your littles and read some fun Valentine’s Day books. We have some that I love. I try to add a couple to our library each year. Another good option is to head to your local library to see what Valentine’s Day books they have available.

This might be a good time for you to find a book you love and read it again or pick a new book. A little self care during the holidays never hurt anyone. It may give you a bit of a pick me up and have some energy to spare.

Did Someone Say Last Minute Valentine’s Day Craft?

Doing holiday crafts are so dang fun! I love it! My kiddos love it! I may get stressed at the mess or trying to do all the things.

So this year, I’m trying to just pick one or two Valentine’s Day crafts to do with my kiddos.

One I really want to do is one that I’ve shared in a post a few years ago and never got around to it.

Yarn Wrapped Cardboard Hearts

Supplies Needed:

  • Scissors
  • Yarn
  • Cardboard
  • Pencil

Draw or trace some hearts onto cardboard. Cut them out. Then take your yarn and start wrapping it around the heart. When you are done you can tuck the end of the yarn into the heart, tie it off, or glue the end.

Sounds easy. Looks really cute. And you might have everything at home for this craft. BOOM!

When I was teaching, one of my favorite teacher friends introduced me to this fun art project. I did it every year until I stopped teaching. Then I did it with my own children.

Heart Art by Jum Dine

Supplies Needed:

  • Paper
  • Black Marker
  • Ruler
  • Markers, crayons, oil pastels, etc.

Directions:

  1. Draw a large heart covering most of your paper.
  2. Take your ruler and draw straight lines all over your paper. Inside and outside of the heart.
  3. Take whatever medium you picked and color in one section the same color. As you color in each section try not to have the same color next to each other.

This is such a fun project because it’s easy. Each student, child, or person doing it can put their own spin on it. Everyone’s will be different. You can frame it or hang it on the wall. Show off your awesome artistic skills!

Heart Attack – Service

This is not a new concept but sometimes doing the older things are the best. 🙂

For those who have not heard of this little service act, it’s easy! Simply cut out a bunch of hearts. Different sizes and colors. Then pick somone you want to brighten their day a bit. Go and tape all the hearts onto their front door.

Ring the doorbell and run! They will get a fun surprise of a heart attacked door. This will let them know that soneone was thinking of them and that they are loved.

Take it one step further and write reasons why you love them on the hearts. Or reasons why they are awesome. Trust me, it will make your day!

Valentine’s Day Show or Movie

If your kiddos are like mine, then I bet they ask for movie nights all the time. Haha! We love gathering on the couch and snuggling while we watch a show or moive.

Amp it up a bit by finding a Valentine’s Day show or movie. Pop some popcorn (add some pink, red, and white m&m’s), eat your sugar cookies, or put a blanket on the floor and eat your dinner in front of the TV.

You’ll all have a blast slowing down and spending some down time together.

BONUS!!!

I sure do love to add bonuses! Here are some easy ways to add more Valentine’s Day last minute fun in your home.

I’m not sure about you but I’m getting excited to have Valentine’s Day here in just a week! I hope you can use these 5 last minute Valentine’s Day ideas to help you have a fun and memorable Valentine’s Day!

Oh, I’ve been thinking lately that I want to have more time and expierences WITH my children and Eddy. I’m going to give my kiddos some experience coupons for Valentine’s Day. Nothing big. Just giving them the gift of time together. 🙂
