I am going to start out with books I used while teaching. In other parts I will share books I have found since I stopped teaching to become a stay at home mom. I am going to try to get my kids a Halloween book every year. I’m stoked!

Book 1: The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything

The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams is probably one of my favorite Halloween books. This is not your traditional Halloween book, one reason why I really like it. This little old lady shows who is boss. My students loved to help me read this book. I can’t wait to read this book over and over with my kiddos.

Book 2: A Very Brave Witch

This darling book by Alison McGhee, A Very Brave Witch, shares about an uncommon friendship between a little witch girl and a little human girl. They are both brave. I like when books have a good teaching lesson. This book can help teach children to be brave and to do things that are our of the norm.

Book 3: Room on the Broom

Julia Donaldson was onto something when she wrote Room on the Broom. This is not your typical witch. This witch keeps adding to her clan on her broom. Then the clan that she gathers helps her in the end. Helping one another comes full circle with this witch and the other animals.

Book 4: The Spookiest Halloween Ever!

In this cute book, The Spookiest Halloween Ever! by Teddy Slater, the characters being spooked are not who you think would get spooked. A fun and easy read for the whole class or family. My students loved it, you can tell by the pages coming out from being taped so many times.

Have you read or seen any of these Halloween books? There are some good ones in part 1. Look for part 2 next week. Happy reading!

Are there some Halloween books you think I should add? If so comment or send me an email to get them added onto my list. 🙂

Xoxo
